CANARY: The Fortunate Isles

CANARY: The Fortunate Isles
by Angel Rodriguez Alvarez

Some time ago I wanted to talk about one of the most wonderful places on this planet, instead I choose to spend a short vacation annually I always produce a special feeling, once the hard time I assumed the flight, the plane that I have a real phobia.

I refer to the Canary Islands, which form an archipelago belonging to the Kingdom of Spain, strategic focus of many countries that would like anexionárselo, located 95 kilometers from the northwest coast of Africa, and home to the highest point in Spain The Teide, with its 3,718 meters, with beaches and volcanoes that form a beautiful landscape.

Equipped with a wonderful tropical climate, sweet, moist and mild throughout the year, the Canary Islands are a veritable Garden of Eden, engaging and wrapped in a wonderful drunk who visit.

For amateurs to issues that normally occupy us, UFO and paranormal topics, the Canary Islands are full of all kinds of mysteries that will not disappoint seekers and researchers.

They are full of mysterious lights, doors dimensional, UFOs and aliens, strange apparitions, goblins, etc.. taking a percentage of mysterious experiences simply brutal.

They are a magnet for passionate amateurs to these issues, which are an added attraction to the conventional attractive. There is even talk of UFOs submarine bases, and sightings of these objects have been multitudinous repeatedly.

Even were one of the first places related to the strange animal deaths and mutilations attributed to that being mysterious and elusive that is known as “El Chupacabra”, and that has generated so much controversy.

And not to miss even the pyramids are not lacking. Also exist.

Discovered recently, were at first ignored and dismissed as such pyramids, believing that it was stones and debris randomly placed, until it was shown that it was indeed this type of construction, very similar in design and construction to pyramids of Mexico, Guatemala, Peru and Mesopotamia, and now comprise the “Ethnographic Park Guimar Pyramids”, invaluable archaeological site located in the valley, on the island of Tenerife.

The Canary Islands are an archipelago of seven islands, known by the names of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma.

In the Lanzarote there, in turn, a miniarchipiélago called “Chinijo” (meaning “small”), with its larger islands called “Clear Mountain”, (sold nine million euros.), Alegranza and La Graciosa, inhabited by 658 people.

This Chinijo Archipelago marine reserve is Europe’s largest, with 700 square kilometers. An area of great biodiversity.

Everyone knows that the Canary Islands have been considered by many as the remains of Atlantologists mythical sunken island continent is said several thousand years ago and that was called Atlantis.

Long ago a mysterious island inhabited these human beings were called “Guanches” which were hit several times by different invasions, from disparate parts of the world, until they were entirely exterminated by the Spanish. The latter seems not accepted by all scholars, who do not believe in a total extermination, but an assimilation of their society by the conquerors, Christianization and subsequent interbreeding between several different breeds.

The Guanches were a noble people with good feelings, courageous, very jealous of their freedom and independence, which must have been the cause of its near-extermination, unable to be completely subdued, preferring to die rather than be dominated.

Who were these mysterious aboriginal, ancient inhabitants of the Canary Islands, of whom only a memory remains very blurred, some paintings and engravings, and a vocabulary which were saved only a few words?.

What do we know these people disappeared forever?.

Are the Canaries the remains of Atlantis and the Guanches descendants of the Atlanteans?.

The origin of the Guanches remains a mystery and ethnographers and historians not just agree.

Most are inclined to assign a Berber origin, in Northern Africa, as their physical characteristics and their language are very similar to these peoples.

The arrival of Berber groups in the Canary Islands, to be the case, it would be relatively easy, given the proximity to the African continent, and favorable winds. Today African immigrants often arrive clandestinely and in successive waves to the islands aboard boats incredible, which is crowded with many people, although many of them wrecked, with the loss of human lives.

Other students were assigned to the Guanches a relationship with the Egyptians, given the similarity in the way of mummifying the bodies of the two cultures, and there are those who think they might be survivors of the ancient Atlanteans, disappeared in the course of that mythical collapse continent.

That missing Atlantis, according to its supporters, some survivors would have spread to the East, the West and the islands, or carried them once the course cataclysm.

For some Germanophiles, the Guanches could be linked to the Aryan race, in its purest expression, by his height, his white skin, blond hair and blue eyes.

Whatever its origin, was a noble and cultured, with a big heart and full of goodness.

If they are asking themselves where they came from Guanches answered:

“God put us in these islands, we left here and then forgot about us.”

They belonged to the Cro-Magnon type, so it can not be that pure Aryan race seeking such Germanophiles and although its existence was known since ancient times, and invaded from time to time, tried to be a closed society, unlikely to expand, but to remain isolated from the rest of the world, which led them to an involution up to the state of life of the troglodytes, living in caves and using the resources offered them abundant goats in the mountains, where they lived completely naked and in the wild, but there was another group that was more socially evolved, which relied on farming, inhabiting villas beautiful gardens. Group was obviously superior to the other, but eventually, as we say, devolving because this strong isolation. They all lived without clothes or some loincloth and a garment made of skins and dyed with natural dyes red or saffron, sewn together with thread made from tanned animal casings and braided.

No known metals and stones used as weapons and wood with sharp points.

Scrupulously social hierarchization, with a caste system, in which each exercised control over others as kings or queens, as they also used the system of matriarchy. The subjects showed great respect and submission to their leaders, and in that sense this race was a careful culture, allowing them to maintain order and harmony.

Its laws are counted as punishment Death Penalty, which applied for treason, adultery, theft and murder.

As recounted Father Espinosa, simply go to a “woman in some way or another lonely place, watched or talked, but she first should ask to speak to him or something, and he said a word populated dishonest that it could be proved, then die for it, without any appeal, such was his discipline … “.

The death penalty is applied by hanging, head crushing, stoning, despeñamiento, walling, etc.

The king was called Mencey, on the island of Tenerife and Gran Canaria Guanarteme in and had a kind of Senate, composed of the nobles of the group. The kingdoms were called “menceyatos”.

They had a priest to exercise the functions of religious cults, with a Supreme God and Goddess of Fertility.

There were also some people with qualities diviners or for the use of the Magic, who were called Güañañemes.

Did not communicate the Guanches of islands with those of others, so that each of them had a distinct language of the other.

Were often hunted and sold into slavery from his “rediscovery” (his previous existence was known to the ancient peoples).

In 1402, a Norman, named Bethencourt, to end the slave trade colonized these islands with French emigrants.

The intent of domestication, to convert to Christianity and dress their bodies caused many revolts with bloodshed. Many committed suicide, jumping off cliffs, with great contempt of his life for the sake of their freedom, while they gave a shout, saying: “Vacaguaré!” Which means: “I want to die”.

Racial characteristics of this village made even the Nazis, obsessed with the purity of their race, they felt concerned by the Guanches.

The Ahnenerbe as we know, was an institution of the SS of the Third Reich, which was dedicated, among other things, to organize expeditions to various parts of the world, to find anything that might be related to their Nazi ideal of the Aryan race, and any esoteric knowledge, or could serve the purposes of that movement.

The best-known issue is that organization on Tibet in 1939, but there were others, and one of them went to the Canary Islands, where they developed a site investigation on Guanche race, which was considered surviving Atlanteans and peoples both aria. But those seem to be the type Guanches cromagnon pure, unmixed, while whites now is a mix between Cro-Magnon and some kind of hominid, (? Neanderthal?).

Cro-Magnon Man appeared “suddenly”. Nobody can explain how it would have needed more time to develop his brain, which was larger than that of modern man. Evolutionary biology tells us that Nature does things “rare”. No big jumps or macromutations da. So how did it appear?.

He is considered responsible for the near extinction of the Neanderthal Man. It is said that the Cro-Magnon race would be a “divine” (?) And Neanderthal human would.

Although it was believed that there had been mixed among them, have recently discovered human remains in Portugal mixture of both.

That way there is some mystery unclear, it seems.

There are many German publications in the sense of attributing to the Guanches Aryan origin and therefore Aryans belonging to their ancestors, but should not be so, for Cro-Magnons were pure, but when the Spanish arrived and conquered the Canaries, there was a mix, appearing Cro-Magnons, protomediterráneos, Negroid, etc..

These authors ancient and some modern Germans also insist that the islands are the highest visible part of sunken Atlantis.

Possibly, if we locate Atlantis in the ancient kingdom of Tartessos, in addition to nearly all of the Iberian Peninsula, including the northern part of the African continent and some islands have already disappeared in the Straits of Gibraltar, the Canary Islands and Madeira, not forgetting the Azores, then yes that would have been part of that empire, although perhaps not as think many supporters of this hypothesis.

On the island of the Guanches race, we said that would be descendants of the Berber villages, according to anthropologists, archaeologists and historians more conventional, linguistic and archaeological traces and say they have found to say that for sure, but exists in certain sectors strong opposition to this idea by the advocates of the Guanches Atlantean origin.

The Guanches were all very tall, even in some cases exaggerated height of two meters and two meters, as seen in some of the mummies found, with a cranial capacity of 1,900 cms. cubic, the largest it has ever known, the cephalic index (main measure of head shape), of 77.7 indicates a very pure descent and the Nazis wanted for himself, (who walked these islands measuring skull of living and dead, in the expedition sent by the SS Ahnenerbe), waist-length hair, red hair and in many cases almost entirely blond, so blond it looked like gold, and blue eyes, with skin very white. It could establish a more accurate if the Vikings were compared.

Carleton Coon, of Harvard University said.

“3000 years ago, during the Upper Paleolithic Cro-Magnon group, (called Afalou men), lived in North Africa and the Libyans descended from them.

Many of them were redheads, since this feature still exists in the area … At present, such traits are mostly human in Norway, Ireland and the Moroccan Rif. The modern descendants of the ancient Berber Libyans “.

Geneticists Princetown University confirmed with DNA tests in the 90s, the genetic proximity of the Berbers with the British, more pronounced than with other European groups.

Importantly, in any case, completely unaware that the Guanches the art of sailing, although their ancestors might have known or have been brought there by the Phoenicians? Perhaps?.

Some even said that in ancient Phoenicians established factories in the islands, among other things to get known and much appreciated garum, the sauce made with fish heads and bones, mostly tuna, decaying, oil and spices. The Garum at that time could not miss any table.

In one of the Canary Islands, on the island of La Gomera, is a vestige of the days when the Guanches populated these islands and has stood the test of time.

One of the most striking features of the Guanche people is the use of a whistled language, which is called “The Silbo Gomero”.

Through this whistling language, over distances of 5 kms. or something else, and repeating over and over again, the Guanches could carry messages over long distances through the cliffs and valleys, in this peculiar geography of La Gomera, with very irregular terrain, filled with canyons and cliffs considerably high, particularly in the area of the National Park Garajonay.

The whistled language is only used today in La Gomera and El Hierro is something, although investigators believe was used in other Canary Islands, possibly in the majority.

“With smoked were understood and whistles that opened from the top: and whistling heard that another, and so from hand to hand in a short time be summoned and gathered all”. (Abreu Galindo, Cap. XII, 5).

It was a fast communication method was not effective and simple sounds or signals, as we suppose, but a true regulated language, a genuine articulated language like any other.

Indeed, the whistling speak perfectly structured sentences, and clear and precise message arrives. Plays spoken Spanish, with only two vowels and four consonants. Silbo used for the lips, tongue and fingers.

A French scholar, very interested in the islands and their peculiarities says of his travels:

“As I begin my journey through this island (Gomera), whistling heard in all directions. At first I thought it was simple signals agreed, but I soon observed that sounds infinitely varied timbre, rhythm, etc.., Still prays soft, melodious, bass, treble, rippers, prays lilting, imperatives, as if man emtía communicate the orders, and finally sad, pleading.

Found myself eager to penetrate that mystery still suspecting the truth, but it was clear that it had established a conversation between my guide and islanders nearby, concerning me.

In undertaking the trip the guide recommended not to reveal my medical profession not to waste time on queries. Since we discovered the islanders rushed whistling ask my name, nationality, occupation and purpose of my trip.

The guide, despite my ban had answered all these queries with their whistles, as well told me then, and proof that they understood my arrival I found a crowd of patients waiting to see me. ”

This language some scholars believed that had developed since the isolation that had the inhabitants of these islands, but it has been discovered that has also been used in parts of Africa between members of some tribes, including the Moroccan Atlas Berbers and between Berries of Cameroon peoples.

This would be another sign that would confirm the Berber origin of the Guanches, who has not yet been secured, but we have said that is widely accepted.

The reason that La Gomera has been preserved and is gone instead of the other islands, it is assumed to be due to the scarcity of the Spanish or Castilian on that island, and orographic characteristics.

Today we are looking at international bodies (UNESCO) to declare the culturally valiosísmo Canario Silbo Gomero or Masterpiece of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, which will save the language from extinction total, drowned by the new technologies, as having outlived its usefulness, is no longer used just in practical life and its scope would circunsrito to Cultural and Research Center.

It is a work of many people who hopefully come to fruition.

One of the characteristics of the people was his custom Guanches mummified corpses.

Not all mummified, mummified or which is made the same way.

Mummification was reserved for nobles and caste differences existed within them, as the range that had been in life the deceased. That mummification came to be as a sign of social status.

He also had a religious character, and she wanted to preserve the bodies for as long as possible, looking for a durability that related to the hereafter, so that mummification would allow identification of the deceased in a future life.

The Guanches mummified corpses in a similar way as did the Egyptians, and some towns of America (Peru, for example), so that supporters of the hypothesis of Atlantis find it a relationship between these peoples that could mean that one day had a common origin, which could very well be that mythical island continent, although using vegetable or mineral substances that could have in their natural environment, which differentiated them in some detail.

However mummification itself is not a practice of the Egyptians, but was practiced in ancient times by different cultures.

I disagree with those who say that the Egyptians mummification discovered by chance, finding corpses that had remained dehydrated according to the characteristics of the place where they had been buried, unlike others, buried in other areas of very different conditions were rapidly and completely corrupted.

For the mummification of the corpses, the technique was very similar between the Egyptians and the Guanches.

In Egypt the corpse was put on a special table for mummification, which used to be made of alabaster. There he was emptying the deceased with soft extraction as the brain, intestines, stomach, liver and lungs, leaving the heart, and hold it to the feelings, consciousness and life could not be separated from the body.

These bodies were placed on an adjacent table, in some vessels called “Canopus”. He covered the body with a salt called natron, dried it, leaving it completely dehydrated, so no rotting, and the gaps were filled with sawdust and spices.

After closing the corpse, you put a plate or gold wax, washed and anointed with aromatic balms. He dressed and finally wrapped with strips of linen, soaked in resin.

Among the Guanches came to the same thing, with differences, as we have said, because the materials were available, and using a slightly different time, for the Egyptians took 70 days to complete the whole process and took about 15 Guanches days, the latter exposing the body to the sun to finish the “drying”. But basically, the process was the same.

These mummies Canary would get into a drawer and took some highly inaccessible caves, where they placed vertically to the walls, in a kind of niche.

Others were placed one above the other, supported by way of scaffolding planks of wood, which was preserved so well that seemed to have become steel and it was impossible to break with any instrument that was hard. These boards were called “chajasco”.

The duration and preservation of Guanche mummies has always been described as amazing.

The Guanches were reluctant to teach any outsider these cemeteries, as they felt their intrusion as a desecration. Called their mummies “xaxos”.

Unfortunately, the use of burial caves by farmers and ranchers, and the plunder committed to trade with collectors mummies have made in the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries are destroyed many of these mummies, or stripped of their regalia, or moved from its location or orientation making it difficult or imposiblitó study by specialists in many occasions. It is the old story.

We did, in passing, a reference to the Pyramids of Guimar in Tenerife. Above them hangs the shadow of the doubt, and there appear to be conflicting interests, which at the moment there is no definitive explanation.

About the Pyramids of Guimar there is much controversy.

Discovered in 1990 by Emiliano Bethencourt, in Chacon, in the town of Guimar in Tenerife, arouse passions for and against.

While some say that it is simple alignments or piles of stones, made to clear the land in the area in order to devote to the exploitation of cochineal, others say that it is true pyramids, denying the possibility that assumptions peasants had the ability to perform these constructions, shaped perfectly matched with the pyramids elsewhere. But also have drains and graduation, with perfect forms that push the idea that groups of stones are simple and clear intent denoting architectural construction.

Pyramids are fledged, as is understood to be a pyramid. But now another question arises, what is their age?.

Several archaeologists and historians have dug detractors and analysis in the area, including scientists from the University of La Laguna (Tenerife), concluding that Güimar pyramids were erected in the nineteenth century.

The controversy was served.

Defender of the reality of these pyramids was Dr, Heyerdahl, Norwegian ethnologist known and recognized internationally, anything that could be considered a charlatan, who was the most insisted that it was pre-Hispanic pyramids. To show him constituted dissemination of these constructions from Egypt to South America.

For and against, the truth is that it formed a theme park on these pyramids, attracting many tourists, generating a lot of money.

Among the observations and data that critics offer is this:

“Don Antonio Diaz-Flores and Cartaya Fasnia born the son of Don Antonio Diaz Flores and Dona Rosa Maria Cartaya. It was emigrant to America, where he amassed a considerable fortune and learned great things that tried to “teach” in Tenerife, as were improvements in agriculture and transport.

In 1854 bought the farm Isabel Ayala Castro Chaconne. His idea was to modify the property to plant cochineal and this led him to have to clear the volcanic lava in it were in the form of gravel. Being a man of great culture amontomaniento applied for these stones pyramids forming technique. The thing was easy (???) And worshiped step affiliation with the Masonic Lodge Lusitanian obedience to which was attached with the codename Chogo.

I’m happy for the natives of Guimar today enjoy beautiful set “prehispanic” and incidentally sell wine.

As bored making money, incidentally was the owner of several mansions of Orotava, including “House of the Balconies” and mayor of the town in 1863 and also in 1875 by provincial deputy Tenerife.

Their children were Amelia, Antonio and Gonzalo “.

If so, the mystery of the pyramids of Guimar be made plain, and would not have a pre-Hispanic origin. But it is not so clear. Why?. Because for the pyramids are, in turn, authoritative opinions.

For example, the Centre for Aboriginal Studies Canarias, notes that near the place where the pyramids are most favorable or easy and close to throw those stones if he really did that with the intention to clean the area.

To increase the controversy, three astrophysicists made on the above constructions astronomical study. Published the results in 1991 and they said that the pyramids are aligned to the solstices in that area, and that could have been used to calculate the key dates for the cycles of agriculture, as did the Mayans, Incas and Aztecs their pyramids in America.

There are written references to the pyramids, which speak of the Guanches in relation to them, and not farmers later.

As an example we have this:

“Were these palm idolaters and every captain had in his term, where they went to worship, whose worship was thus: gathered many stones (…), and in the days that were placed to his devotions like there came all around of the heap of stones, and danced and sang dirges there and fought and made the other exercises wearing slacks, and these were his parties of devotion. ”

There are other historical references in the same direction, but I think it is quite clear that in the time since Guanches were those pyramids, independently in later times to the Spanish conquest farmers pile up stones to cleanse the land.

Why are disputes between supporters and opponents?.

It is another mystery.

Güimar area there, too, a ravine that holds many stories and legends.

He was part of the Mencey menceyato Añaterve, who was in that area a good place to shelter, given their conditions to establish its habitat in the caves of the place.

This Mencey gave the ravine, which the Guanches called “Barranco de Chamoco” Spanish troops in the year 1496.

Upon the distribution of land that occurred subsequent to the conquest, this ravine was owned by a certain Juan de Badajoz. This name became the ravine to have the name that is known at present, “Barranco de Badajoz”.

It’s an impressive place, with towering vertical walls, and reaches a maximum height of 2,259 meters, and in some areas very difficult or impossible to access. Some hikers have lost their lives to wander off in that area.

On both sides of the bed of the ravine can warn many caves and galleries, used at the time by the miners who dug for water extraction.

One cave was used by the Guanches to the healing process of their food, especially cheese. Hurdle’s Cave, which is located approximately 100 meters. high, which was also called “the Guanches Quesera”.

The chronicles say that finding two miners excavating a wall of a gallery, the wall collapsed, falling apart and exposing broader another gallery.

In this gallery, the miners were stunned to discover three beings dressed in white, who seemed to want to communicate with said miners. He said the area where they should dig to find water easily sought.

But there is another version that says both miners, realizing the presence of strange beings ran and headed the Civil Guard barracks, where they reported the facts. But there is no record of such a complaint.

It is said that in this ravine, at some undetermined point, there is a dimensional door, which would connect to a parallel world or reality.

It was here that he supposedly for “The Girl of pears”, so named because his family was sent to the area to look for that kind of fruit. The girl, five years disappeared, again not knowing anything about it, until years later, when he reappeared, still having the same age of five he had at the time of his disappearance.
The astonished parents heard from the lips of the girl who had fallen asleep at the foot of a pear tree. Aroused there be white (again? Beings in white?), Which led to a cave, where a ladder that fell down to a garden where there were other similar beings. Does intraterrestrial trafficking, a parallel reality or fantasy?.

Later, the girl was taken to the outside of the cave, to the place where he was found. She picked the fruit and returned home. I was not aware of who had spent more than a few hours.

Güimar meets many legends, such as the appearance of the Virgin of Candelaria.

Tradition has it that two Guanche shepherds noticed that going to save their herds to the caves of the “Barranco de Chimisay” cattle refused to enter and swirled, very restless.

They sought the cause of this fact and found a woman who was on a rock, with a child in her arms.

Since the Guanches could not talk to a woman, nor approach her in unpopulated areas, he waved him away and could drive cattle.

But raising the arm, to make such a gesture, this is paralyzed, so he tried to hurt the other Guanche with his knife to the woman misterioa. But he failed, being wounded himself.

They fled to the cave where Acayno Mencey palace told what happened.

They went to the place again, accompanied by Mencey and other Guanches and found that it was a picture of a woman in black.

She was transferred to the cave, being miraculously healed the two pastors who had found and was recognized by a former slave of the Spanish, who had escaped, and that identified her as the Virgin Mary.

It is believed to explain the mystery, that that image may have been brought there by Spanish Franciscan missionaries in pre-conquest period, trying to evangelize the Guanches, prompting a religious syncretism. And the shepherds found there. References to miraculous events as legend would be to increase the interest of the faithful believers.

Within the religious beliefs of these aborigines existed regarding volcanoes, and more specifically with the Teide volcano.

All remember reading adventure books which chronicled the lifestyle of the aborigines of islands more or less exotic and tropical, and Oceania.

In these islands, in those who had active volcanoes, they were regarded as the abodes of gods or demons of evil more or less dark. Even to calm the anger of these demons, what was happening was considered when volcanoes erupting, human sacrifices were offered, usually young virgins, to calm them. It was a constant in all these indigenous cultures.

In the Canary Islands find something similar related to the peak of Mount Teide, an active volcano in the past, and now seems to be “off”, but watch out, it only seems: there are signs that some activity, so far as fumaroles and solfataras to 86 ° C. There seems to be some problem with the magmatic system of the volcano, the Teide “bubbles”, (although there are conflicting reports among scientists), so it is necessary to be alert and “check” often the volcano. Could erupt any day. If so, the consequences could be catastrophic to Tenerife as it is difficult for a speedy evacuation.

When I was in Tenerife in 2004, there were rumors, as the taxi driver told me that we moved to the hotel, there was some seismic activity in those days, so that policy makers were meeting with experts in volcanology. I personally did not notice anything, but I was quite restless. I almost ruined the holiday.

Inside the volcano located on the island of Tenerife, the Guanches believed that inhabited the Goddess of Evil, called Guayota, Tibicenas with their children.

Both Tibicenas goddess as they emerged from their den took the form of fierce dogs, large.

The Guanches once observed that the heavens were covered with clouds threatening, that remained the clear light of day.

Guayota kidnapped the Sun God, called Magec, so darkness took over the Earth, and brought him into the volcano, called the Guanches Echeyde.

The Tibicenas, Guayota children then went to attack the livestock of the Guanches, producing great slaughter that made the people afraid greatly Achamán directed their prayers to the God of Heaven.

Achamán pitied the Guanches and faced a terrible struggle Guayota until locked Achamán Evil Goddess inside the volcano, putting a cap on the input, which is the white cone you see on the top, and white because that is called the “Sugar Loaf”.

Magec was released, and the light came back again, reinstaurándose normal.

It seems, in my opinion, an idealized form of describing a volcanic eruption. Could be.

The volcano, the highest mountain in the Canary Islands, Spain and any Atlantic island, which in Roman times was called Nivaria, due to its snowy summit, is located in the Natural Park of Teide, Heritage, and in 1989 received the European Diploma in top category, awarded by the Council of Europe.

In its vicinity have happened all kinds of phenomena, from UFO to parapsychology, with sightings of lights, spheres, disks and “entities” gigantic or small, which have attracted interest from ufologists and parapsychologists.

Sometimes this interest overflows, and is organized around this whole “shebang” kind of ufolatría, very common in this world where rationality is buried in the interests of a mysticism that some people need to be present in their lives as a crutch to to move forward in their lives, unable to do alone.

This occurred for several consecutive years, since 1978, which launched a mystical movement-ufólatra, bringing together thousands of people in the Valley or Cañadas del Teide.

This movement adopted the name “Operation Planetary Unit”, and had set an objective to send mentally, all together, thoughts of peace and love to everyone.

Jose Antonio program Ales “Midnight”, got there, in one of his “UFO Radio Alerts”, 40,000 people gather together.

Less festive meeting was happily aborted by police Tenerife, organized by a German psychologist, who spent ten years living in Tenerife, called Heide Fittkan-Garthe, 56, with the aim of carrying out a ritual suicide. He was the leader of a saucer called “Order of the Solar Temple”, similar to other movements of people who strive majaderas consider alleged extraterrestrials as brothers coming over to help.

Apparently, through their “contacts”, this majadera convinced a group of people (among whom were many children), to commit suicide collectively, as “the end of the world was imminent.”

Fortunately the police, as I said, did stop.

And meanwhile, what has become of the Guanches?. Were finally exterminated by the Spanish, as they say, and there are now descendants of those brave and almost legendary native of the Canary Islands?.

A fairly recent study tells us that genes have been detected in the supposedly extinct aboriginals in South America, specifically in the Dominican Republic.

Once this is verified, the researchers raised a new mystery: How could these Guanches get to America, since it is believed they did not know the art of sailing?.

The explanation of why we find traces of the Guanches in South America itself is not so mysterious. They wanted to explain it by saying that the Guanches of the Canaries came from the Americas, as opposed to claims that come from North Africa and that are related to the Berbers.

For ten years a Galician archaeologist named Pablo Alvarez Novoa made a study of this canary-American relationship, discovering in the Museo Canario a polished stone axes found that the same or very similar to other conserved in the Caribbean.

Noticing these coincidences, Paul discussed the names of both areas and found more than five hundred matches, what makes you think that the Guanches come from Araguaco-Taínos.

But the explanation, for others, is the fact that the Guanches were exploited as slaves at first as settlers and later by the Spanish conquerors, so they were taken to America, where they formed groups of population.

The Guanches were used in the Iberian Peninsula, around the end of the Reconquista in 1492. Spain had been greatly depopulated, from the center to the south and was repopulated with Spaniards and Guanches.

Although nationalist and independence canaries have tried to make believe that the Guanches were treated under slave conditions terrible, that’s not true, although there was slavery in the beginning.

The Catholic Monarchs protected the Christianized Indians and nobles were warned against desobediancia the actual order prohibit the sale and enslavement, although with great disobedience of the nobles and clergy reluctant at first, was giving way to a new situation favorable for Indians. True, they were a subject people, invaded and subsequently colonized, but we must not forget that much of the forces that warred in the Canaries and later colonized the islands, were Guanches serving the Spanish Crown, not having enough Spanish for that colonization.

As for the Peninsula, although there were all basically were also used, as we have said, to repopulate depopulated large geographic areas, particularly the South and Southeast, forming living villages subject to local lords but not as slaves but as a population under an established power. There was great social inequality between castes nobles and clergy and the common people, but this was true for the entire population. Do not forget that we speak of feudal societies.

About this extraction Penínula canaries to repopulate the professor tells us Pilar Rodriguez:

“The transfer of the natives of the Canary Islands (called Guanches) to the Iberian Peninsula, for restocking and conquest covers a period of more than two centuries. It begins in the middle of the thirteenth century, extending beyond 1570 in which occurs the total expulsion of the Moors from Granada. Can be estimated at about 400,000 the Guanches moved in that span. It is of note that this is an historically done muted “.

In those medieval times and the end of the Middle Ages, the nobles and clergy were a breed with few privileges as clearly differentiated from the rest of the people, and the treatment that was not quite human, not only with the Guanches, but with all the people in general. Or were noble or were less than nothing, and there was even a “right to abuse” in some areas. All that was slowly changing.

On its presence in Latin, Pilar Rodriguez says of the Guanches:

“The two components overseas whites in America are: Spanish and canaries.

The Spanish were in the government, but very few. The Canary emigration and poor whites represented from discovery to the twentieth century will be associated with a strong and continuous flow of emigration, mostly underground. Since the second half of the sixteenth century identifies family outings blocks mid-seventeenth century and was considered to have more canaries in America than in the islands … “.

So lie all those who say that the Spanish exterminated the Guanches, as liars who claim that the Spanish exterminated the American Indians, although in this case it was a serious attack population, but without reaching the extremes to which came mainly French and English, and later the Americans, who finished with the Indians in North America, leaving only a small number cornered in so-called “Indian reservations”.

Anyway, everyone sees history as it suits their ideas or interests.

Today is considered the current canaries, more or less mixed, as descendants of those ancient Guanches, and some will, perhaps, to retain their racial characteristics more or less pure.

But as in the Peninsula, homogeneity is a rare find in places where there have been invasions, peaceful or not, and mixtures of peoples with others.

But that’s one thing, and speaking of extinction, as some people would have us believe is quite another and also false.

The Canary Islands are today, as yesterday, an earthly paradise, where there is greater economy through tourism, with great potential in other fields and who could do with a strong attention and investment of the state, given the folly of our politicians is difficult to display.

Today it is producing a new invasion of the islands, is a very different sign, with the arrival of thousands of Africans who arrive on its shores in frail canoes, escaping the misery of their home countries.

Not long ago, in the days of the Franco dictatorship opposite occurred: canaries who were themselves in flimsy fishing boats secretly migrated to South America, specifically Venezuela, escaping unsustainable economic situations, paying large sums to gangs then such and as it is now with African immigrants.

The indomitable spirit of ancient Guanche, in those days before the arrival of the Spaniards and Spanish lives on forever about the geography of these islands, and it is easy to imagine, to see even behind every ridge, behind every tree, sound through the Gomera Whistle, along the mouth of the volcano, stroking the edges of the dunes, and plunging into the depths of the Atlantic Ocean that jealously guards the secret mystery of a past that perhaps there was a great civilization , a civilization that one day controlled much of the world, but was swallowed by a cataclysm, leaving only as the highest recall of its geography, the Canary Islands, Selvagens Islands, Madeira and the Canary Islands may Azores, and remains blurred, masked, in the southern part of the Iberian Peninsula and North Africa.

The spirit of the Guanche, whose name means “man”, will live forever in the souls and hearts of thousands of canaries and canary, and that of many Spaniards who admire and envy the noble race, brave and indomitable than a days peopled these islands, and still lives today, mixed with us.

The canary, justly called Fortunate Isles, still keeping many mysteries, so that those people who attracts us the mysterious, magical, inexplicable, such as UFOs, the paranormal, mysterious entities, earth energies, vanished civilizations, Magic, Illusion, have in them an ideal place to satisfy our desire to search. Even the most beautiful of the mystery is to remain forever a mystery.
